* Loosen adjusting slot bolt.

* Hook the tool around the alternator - locking it on the pivot bolt boss or on any other strong protrusion.

* Pull to proper belt tension with a 1/2" square drive socket handle. Tighten the adjusting slot bolt while this tension.
